Particle Clicker

By Igor Babuschkin, Kevin Dungs, Tadej Novak & Gabor Biro (CERN Webfest) · 2014

Play:

Touch: Tap the detector to collect data; tap the Research, HR and Upgrades tabs to spend it. Hold the phone sideways: it only plays in landscape. · Keyboard: Mouse click the detector and the buy buttons.

About:

Made over a weekend at CERN's 2014 Webfest. You tap a simulated detector to collect data, spend it on research that retraces real discoveries from the J/psi to the Higgs, hire PhD students and postdocs to collect data for you, and chase grant money. Each discovery comes with a short, readable explainer. JayIsGames called it 'a solid incremental game with enough layers to give it real depth'. It does slow to a crawl after the first hour or two. MIT-licensed. The info panels' journal plots were left out of this copy because they aren't the authors' to license.
