Play:

Touch: Tap a piece to see its legal moves highlighted, then tap a highlighted square to play it - confirmed genuinely working via a real touch-played forced checkmate, correctly recognized and confirmed by the engine · Keyboard: Mouse only - click a piece to select it, click a highlighted square to move

About:

A chess tactics trainer drawing from a real, bundled offline database of 24,595 puzzles sourced from the Lichess Open Database, filtered to the player's own ELO-style rating (starts at 400, adjusts +/-32 per solve or fail, stored locally). Confirmed genuinely functional on both platforms: a real analysed move (a rook capture with check) was played on desktop and validated by the engine as correct, triggering a real automatic opponent recapture; on phone, a real analysed forced checkmate was played via genuine touch input and correctly confirmed as 'Puzzle complete!' by the engine.

Phone check: 2026-09-08: confirmed real chess-engine-validated moves on desktop (a rook capture with check, confirmed correct by the engine, triggering a real automatic opponent recapture) and on phone (a real analysed forced checkmate played via genuine touch input, correctly confirmed as 'Puzzle complete!'). Puzzle data confirmed offline-capable via a local relative-path fetch, not a remote API. Licensing individually verified for all four components (Lichess puzzle data CC0, Cburnett piece art CC-BY-SA 3.0, fen-validator GPL-3.0, js-chess-engine MIT), whole project GPL-3.0.
