Touch: Tap a piece to select it (its legal moves highlight in green), then tap a highlighted square to move - confirmed genuinely working via direct testing, though the fixed-width 11x11 board (518px) is wider than a typical phone screen and needs horizontal scrolling to reach the far columns · Keyboard: Mouse/tap only - click a piece to select, click a highlighted square to move
About:
A faithful, local pass-and-play implementation of Hnefatafl (Viking chess) on an 11x11 board. Select a piece to see its legal moves highlighted, then click/tap a highlighted square to move, confirmed genuinely functional on both desktop and phone via direct testing of the turn-alternation state. The source implements real custodial capture, corner-hostile squares, and a throne hostile to attackers always but to defenders only when empty, matching the documented Fetlar rules. No AI opponent exists - two players share one device.

Phone check: 2026-09-08: confirmed real click-to-select-then-move mechanics on desktop and real tap-to-select-then-move on phone, verified in both cases by reading the game's own isWhitesTurn state before and after a move (correctly alternating both directions). Confirmed the board (518px wide) overflows a typical phone viewport (374px), requiring horizontal scrolling to reach far columns - a real layout limitation, though the touch input mechanism itself works correctly. Removed a broken absolute-path stylesheet reference (/css/font-awesome.css, unused in the actual game) and added a missing viewport meta tag before shipping. No third-party analytics found.
